SSPAsA series of combined field effect transmitters (FETs) amplify the RF signals. FETs are formed of semiconductor materials such as Gallium Nitride (GaN) or Gallium Arsenide (GaAs), which, through their high band gaps and electron mobility, are more useful at high frequencies than traditional materials like silicon (Si).
